Dog Armor Design Sketches

Sat down to sketch out some ideas regarding dog armor/uniforms for the game.

I really want to get designs that portray the dogs as heroic and use designs that have the potential to become iconic. I don’t want it to simply be a harness with armor pieces since that doesn’t look unique enough.

Here are the goals I want to achieve with the designs.

1. Be reminiscent of a uniform, like service dogs who wear emblemed vests to advertise their status. The dogs in this world would be called Valiants, and need a Valient design that shows them as the heroes they are.
2. Look practical, though this is a fantasy the armor needs to look plausible for a dog to wear comfortably.
3. Hold a sword in a sheath along with a backpack to suggest the dog is holding looted equipment back to home base.
4. Different dogs should have variants of the armor, but still look unified. Some dogs may even wear full plate armor, while others go light.
5. The player will be able to add parts to the armor to change abilities and functions so those additions should not break the basic design.

This is a big chalange, but I believe with a unified color scheme and specific shapes and elements a unified design can be achieved. With that the games characters can look unique, and not just be “Dogs with armor” but “Valient Dogs” from Hounds of Valor.
